A Muso's Top 10: Battles

In honour of The Skinny's scran special, Ian Williams of math rock virtuosos Battles serves up a tasty mixtape and a carnivorous dish to devour

“I’m not bad, I can fend for myself” says Battles guitarist Ian Williams of his culinary skills. “I’m an intuitive person so I can usually make something work when I have no idea what I’m doing, that’s the way I often cook. I love garlic - a lot of spices – I’m one of those ‘someone who has been vegetarian but not I eat meat’ kinda people. Battles has a recipe for roasted bone marrow, which is delicious. I would definitely recommend that on some toast…some sliced bones with the marrow still inside, you screw it out and then put it on with a little bit of marmalade. That’s how people used to eat all the time – you should eat the whole fuckin’ animal, man!”
