Influential Glasgow gig promoter Cry Parrot announces final booking

After eight years at the heart of Glasgow’s DIY music scene, promoter Cry Parrot has announced the details of his final booking.

Over the years, Cry Parrot – the promoting and DJing moniker of Fielding Hope – has promoted countless dozens of shows by a vast range of performers, from post-punk brutalists Swans and industrial magpies Demdike Stare to latter-day synth pop sensations Future Islands and techno pioneer Jeff Mills, as well as a staggering host of homegrown talent.

Cry Parrot have also made waves with a number of one-off events including a secret horror film showing soundtracked by US multi-instrumentalist Umberto.

Hope is set for a move to London to take the programming reins at Cafe OTO in the capital, with the final Cry Parrot show headlined by the Scottish debut of electronic producer and Diagonal Records boss Powell. Support on the night – dubbed ‘Bye Parrot’ – comes from self-described “party band” Golden Teacher, afrobeat duo Sacred Paws and Glasgow DJ David Barbarossa.

‘Bye Parrot’, with live sets from Powell, Golden Teacher, Sacred Paws and a DJ set from David Barbarossa, is at Stereo on Fri 19 Dec.
