Idlewild have today announced their eighth studio release – titled Everything Ever Written – which is due for release on 9 Feb. The album represents the Edinburgh indie rock veterans' first new material since 2009's Post Electric Blues

Guitarist Rod Jones revealed on Twitter earlier this autumn that he had been mixing with John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth), before finally making a full announcement on Steve Lamacq's 6Music show earlier this evening (3 Nov).

Joining Jones, frontman Roddy Woomble and drummer Colin Newton on Everything Ever Written are new members Luciano Rossi (keys) and The Hazey Janes' Andrew Mitchell (bass/guitar).

“The album was predominantly written on the Isle of Mull,” remarks Woomble. "The record soundtracks a period of transition. Working without time constraints gave the whole thing a creative freedom. Idlewild is a new band to me now; I’m excited for the future.”

A limited edition version of Everything Ever Written is available for pre-order from www.pledgemusic.com/idlewild now.

In addition, the band, who recently completed an acoustic tour of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, will mark their fullscale return with a series of European dates early next year, including two nights at Glasgow's O2ABC.

Idlewild's 2015 European Tour will take in:

26 February, Strom – Munich
27 February, Luxor – Cologne
1 March, Lido – Berlin
2 March, Knust – Hamburg
3 March, Bitterzoet – Amsterdam
7 March, O2 ABC – Glasgow
8 March, O2 ABC – Glasgow
10 March, The Institute – Birmingham
