Further to the unveiling of their ninth studio album, Belle and Sebastian are the first announcement to be made for Liverpool Sound City 2015, which takes place between 22-24 May at its new waterfront location of Bramley Moore Dock. The Glasgow indie icons play on the festival's closing day; tickets are on sale here now via Ticketweb.

Their forthcoming LP – Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance – was produced and mixed by Animal Collective collaborator Ben H. Allen III in Atlanta. It's due for release on CD, digital, double vinyl, and limited edition 4-disc vinyl box set on 20 Jan, via Matador, described by early reports as a blending of 'electro-glide, baroque balladry, and giant-sized Europop hooks.' Classic B&S, then.

Stuart Murdoch and co are also set for their largest indoor show on home soil at Glasgow’s Hydro arena with the Scottish Festival Orchestra on 22 May.
