Pumpkin Brown

Slotting in on the Grassmarket next to Dancebase, Pumpkin Brown is a consciously healthy option in the heart of the Old Town. They proudly state that none of their food contains any refined sugar, dairy, or gluten; that hasn't stopped PB from putting together an intriguing menu of breakfast, lunch and snack options. See, you can be healthy and fun at the same time after all. 16 Grassmarket.

Norn

In the Leith premises formerly occupied by The Plumed Horse, Norn intends to pay tribute to Scotland's food landscape and heritage. The fixed four- or seven-course menu will feature the best of seasonal Scottish produce, while a three-course lunch option allows you to check out Norn without breaking the bank. 50 Henderson St.

BRGR

Eagerly slotting into the void left by the dearly-departed Wannaburger (RIP, your cajun fries will be sorely missed), BRGR offers a cost-effective and laid-back option amid Edinburgh's continued love affair with the red meat sandwich. There's a huge range of options – including a halloumi and veg patty described by our resident office veggie as, ahem, "fucking amazing" – and with all their burgers costing just £4 from Monday to Friday, BRGR are a great shout for a delicious lunch that won't leave you weeping at the cash machine. 6 Nicholson St.

Lunch in the sun at the newly opened @wildmanwoodpizza. It was absolutely spot on, be sure to check them out! #edinfoodclub

Wildmanwood

A sleek and surprisingly airy space near Edinburgh University, Wildmanwood is the latest venture from the man behind The Outsider and all-conquering Thai street food behemoth Ting Thai Caravan. This time, pizza's on the menu – specifically, delicious Neopolitan-style pizza topped with a host of enterprising and authentic ingredients from anchovies and mussels to the spreadable sausage goodness that is sobrasada. All that, a great beer and wine list, and a generally cool vibe await. Go. Now. 29 Marshall St.

Good Brothers Wine Bar

The latest in a spate of wine bar openings down in Stockbridge, Good Brothers features a well-curated list of wines from all over the place, both by the bottle and the glass. Moving away from the vino, Good Brothers' food menu features a similarly eclectic mix of influences and ingredients, so we're sure you'll find something to enjoy.  6 Dean St.

Educated Flea

A new joint from the team behind Bruntsfield's Three Birds and Apiary in the Southside, Educated Flea on Broughton Street presents an interesting pan-global menu. There's a host of options for both lunch and dinner drawing on a host of Asian, European and African flavours, but our eyes are instantly drawn to the sharing platters. Tandoori roast chicken, Korean beef ribs and tamarind and chilli pork for the same meal, you say? Yes, we'll have that. 32b Broughton St
