New food and drink in Glasgow

RAMEN DAYO!

RAMEN DAYO! appeared just off Gordon Street last month at the site that hosted the Laneways food project last summer, and have been blowing the minds of unsuspecting Glaswegians with authentic ramen in a lantern-packed setting. Their tonkotsu broth takes the best part of a day to prepare (with appropriately exciting results), and their veggie take has been getting rave reviews too. They've earned those capital letters and that exclamation mark – check them out while you have the chance. Gordon Lane.

Super Bario

Do you like video games? Follow-up question – do you also like beer? If the answer to both those questions is a 'yes', then Super Bario on King Street is the spot for you. A bar-slash-retro arcade stocked up with Scottish craft beers, it offers an ideal alternative to sitting in the pub of an evening, idly chatting about your day. Now you can sit in the pub and angrily accuse each other of cheating at Street Fighter. That's the kind of change we need in 2017 – good work. 7 King Street.

Tuk Tuk Indian Street Food

It's been a welcome addition to the curry scene in Edinburgh, and now Tuk Tuk have travelled down the M8 for their first venture in Glasgow. Expect an array of small plates, with plenty of options for meat-eaters and herbivores alike, and a BYOB option to keep things easy on the wallet. 426 Sauchiehall Street.

Taste Buchanan

The street food takeover of the Buchanan Galleries food court continues, with the initial crop of vendors (including 2017 Food & Drink Survey winners Chompsky and Julie's Street Kitchen) moving on this month. In their place come a host of new stallholders; expect Asian classics from Sunshine Kitchen, loaded chips from the appropriately-named Loaded, Mexican standards from Taco Mazama, and a chance to try the incredible shrimp buns from Shrimpwreck. Fried shrimp, bacon, pickled samphire and lemon mayo, together at last. It's as incredible as it sounds. Buchanan Galleries.

DAI PAI

Taking its name from Hong Kong's street food stands, DAI PAI serves up a solid mix of Asian flavours. Grab a pair of Hirata steamed buns packed with spicy beef and tender braised pork and you'll be set for the rest of the day, or if you fancy something a bit different then grab a Sushirrito. It's an intriguing concept – think sushi, but bigger, and easier to hold. 95-97 Nicholson St.

Dockside Tap

A new bottle shop from Stewart Brewing, the Dockside Tap has a pair of killer features to set it apart. First are the ten taps of brewery-fresh draught beer from Stewart's, available to take home in one- or two-litre growlers. If you're in need of more volume, Stewart are also offering 36- and 72-pint mini-casks and kegs of their brews, ideal for parties or offices where a watercooler just won't cut the mustard. 38 Bernard Street.

DRY

Not every night out need degenerate into an all-out boozefest, and new pop-up DRY offers alcohol-free options a-plenty. There's a dozen alcohol-free beers on the menu, along with non-alcoholic wine, local craft sodas, mocktails and plenty more besides. 15 NW Circus Place.
