Lunch and early evening

[Ox Club]

Ox Club

One of our favourite spots in Leeds for a smart meal in a relaxed setting, you can enjoy Ox Club on the cheap if you head down between 5pm and 6.45pm for their prix fixe menu. That'll get you two courses and one side for £16.50 or three courses and one side for £19.50 – and they don't even whack on a supplement for the flat iron steak. Daily, 5-6.45pm, £16.50-£19.50

The Faversham

Get down to The Fav early for a burger and fries and either a pint of Amstel or 175ml of house wine for a tenner. If you're after something a little healthier, you can also get a salad and a drink for £8. Tue-Fri, 4-7pm, £10

Arts Cafe

At Arts Cafe there’s an early bird menu served Sunday-Friday, 12-7pm, where you can get two courses for £14.50 or three for £17.50 – think starters like soup of the day, risotto or salad, mains including pan-fried chicken breast or beer-battered haddock and chips, plus classic British desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and triple chocolate brownie. Sun-Fri, 12-7pm, £14.50/£17.50

Belgrave Music Hall

The Belgrave's in-house pizza slingers Dough Boys serve up hand-stretched pizza by the slice, with at least six toppings including vegan options. Pop down before 7pm on Sun-Thu or before 5pm on Fri-Sat and you can get your first two slices for half price. All week, until 5pm/7pm, half price pizza slices

Now considered a Leeds institution, craft beer bar Bundobust specialises in Gujurati-style vegetarian street food dishes, and if you pop down for your lunch you can get two of these for £7; choose between okra fries, onion bhajis or bhel puri and massala dosa, egg bhurji or tarka dahl with rice. Mon-Fri, 12-4pm, £7

Bar Soba

Bar Soba's lunchtime express menu lets you order two courses for £8.95; choose from small plates like aubergine and broccoli tempura or chicken/vegetable gyoza dumplings and mains including Thai red chicken curry or crispy Shanghai pork. Mon-Fri, 12-3pm, £8.95

Kendells Bistro

Kendells Bistro has a special 'Tea Time' menu, meaning you can enjoy two courses of French classics for £19.95 or three for £21.95. You can also add half a bottle of the house wine for a grand total of £28.95. Tue-Thu, 5.30-8pm & Fri-Sat 5.30-7pm, £19.95-£28.95

MEATLiquor

Step away from the soggy meal deal sandwich, and head to MEATLiquor for a real feed, with a lunch deal available during the week that gives you any burger, fries and a soda for a tenner. Mon-Fri, 12-5pm, £10
