Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival

Join special guests The Hairy Bikers and Yorkshire-born James Martin at the Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival, which will feature 300 local exhibitors, a bar from Timothy Taylor Brewery, demos from local chefs and much more to promote a ‘Field to Fork’ ethos.

Expect everything from illustrations by Leeds-based Nicola Porter and pottery from Polkadot Lane, to Kerbedge’s beery, cheesy chips (yes please) and high welfare meaty goodness from Talking Pork. 30-31 Jul, Skipton Auction Mart, 9am, various prices

Magic Rock Food and Drink Festival

Possibly the event we’re most looking forward to this summer, the brilliant folk of Magic Rock are putting on their very own food and drink festival, which we’ve no doubt will be nothing short of brilliant.

Promising to be bigger, better and bolder than last time, this summer they'll have nine stalls from the likes of Holy Crab, Honest Crust, Chaat Cart, Blue Caribou and Noisette Bakery, along with DJs, sunshine (hopefully) and, of course, all of that wonderful Magic Rock beer. Definitely worth the short train journey. 7 Aug, Magic Rock Tap, Huddersfield, 12pm, free

Foodies Festival

Enjoy a weekend of street food, artisan producers, wine and beer tutorials, confectionary demos, chilli eating competitions and more with the Foodies Festival in Harrogate, where you’ll also be able to watch celeb chef Aldo Zilli, Great British Menu’s Stephanie Moon and MasterChef’s Ping Coombes and Tony Rodd in action. 19-21 Aug, Ripley Castle, Harrogate, 10am, £8-£14

Temple Newsam Beer Festival

The Friends of Temple Newsam Park are holding their first fundraising beer festival, taking place in the Walled Garden Marquee in the Rose Garden.

Along with beer, the festival will also feature games, activities and food – and the stunning setting is a highlight in itself. This is a very family-friendly event, should you have children to rope along. 26-29 Aug, Temple Newsam, Leeds, times vary, £6

September

Yorkshire Whisky Festival

If there's one thing to encourage you onto the train for a day out in York, we've a sneaky suspicion it might be the Yorkshire Whisky Festival. As with the Liverpool event, the price tag may seem steep, but it includes entry for two, a tasting glass, bottle of water, festival guide and all the whiskies in the main hall (i.e. not so steep after all). 10 Sep, York Racecourse, York, 11am-8pm, £40-£50 for two tickets
