Turn-of-the-millennium masterwork Mulholland Drive is coming back to cinemas, and its new trailer takes us back inside David Lynch’s ravishing nightmare

We’ve got Lynch fever. Twin Peaks will be back on our screens in May. There’s a great documentary about Lynch, called David Lynch: The Art Life, coming in June. And next month sees the director's turn-of-the-millennium surrealist masterpiece Mulholland Drive return to cinemas.

To mark the rerelease, StudioCanal have cut together a mint fresh trailer for the neo-noir thriller. Originally intended as a six-part TV show, the film follows amnesiac Rita (the glamorous Laura Elena Harring) as she goes on a mysterious journey through Hollywood in an attempt to discover her true identity with the help of a would-be Hollywood starlet (Naomi Watts) who takes her in following a car crash.

The film topped a recent poll by BBC Culture to find the greatest films of this century so far, beating stiff competition from the likes of Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for LovePaul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood and Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.

Watch the dazzling new trailer in the player above; Mulholland Drive is in cinemas 14 Apr.
