Marvel heroes team up in first Defenders trailer

In the MCU (that’s Marvel Cinematic Universe for those who haven’t drunk the Kool-Aid), New York City is bursting at the seams with superheroes. As well as the likes of Captain America and Spider-Man on the big screen, the small screen – or to be more precise, Netflix's streaming platform – has seen a quartet of street-level crime fighters emerge over the last few years.

Blind ninja Daredevil, smart-mouthed investigator Jessica Jones, the invulnerable Luke Cage and hipster monk Iron Fist have all individually done battle in their respective New York boroughs, but new show The Defenders see the four join forces to save the Big Apple from the Hand, a back-from-the-dead Elektra, and, by the look of the first trailer that dropped today, Sigourney Weaver.

Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones are back in their respective roles as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and they’ll be taking on all-comers in The Defenders’ eight episode run on Netflix.
