Ewan McGregor snubs Piers Morgan over Women's March

The Trainspotting star pulled out of an interview with Morgan in solidarity with the women around the world who marched against Donald Trump's presidency at the weekend

Actors have to do some horrible things sometimes: starve themselves to play certain roles, get naked in front of beer-bellied boom operators, dredge up deeply-buried emotions so they can cry on demand, crawl into the "worst toilet in Scotland". But surely none of these hardships are more egregious than having to be interviewed by Piers Morgan.

Ewan McGregor, however, has drawn a line in the sand. The Scottish actor was booked to appear on breakfast news show Good Morning Britain this morning to help promote Trainspotting sequel T2, which is out in cinemas on Friday. On discovering Piers Morgan was the show’s co-host, however, he quickly pulled out of the gig.

There are many reasons not to want to speak to Morgan at 7am, but McGregor’s main beef was the presenter’s disparaging comments toward the women’s marches that took place around the world at the weekend.

McGregor revealed his cancellation on Twitter:

Morgan replied to McGregor’s tweet, saying “you should be big enough to allow people different political opinions. You're just an actor after all.”

While we’d have loved to see McGregor call Morgan out on his views on live TV, we can't blame anyone for not wanting to share the same air molecules as him – especially before breakfast.
