“We’re really close to pulling it off finally,” says executive producer Brian Grazer

We’re more excited than Lucille Bluth at the sight of private detective Gene Parmesan with the news that we might be seeing more escapades from Arrested Development's Bluth family in the near future.

Speaking to The Wrap, the show’s executive producer Brian Grazer confirmed that he’s “really close” to signing off a fifth series of the show. “All of the actors have agreed to do it,” says Grazer, “and I think they’ve agreed to their compensation structure. That’s been the hardest – it’s all hard… But it should be happening soon.”

The show, which follows the trials of a formerly wealthy and habitually dysfunctional family, was famously axed by Fox, its shortsighted network, in 2006 because of disappointing ratings. But the cult following for the show only grew after its cancellation and this growing fanbase helped to prompt a revival, and a fourth series appeared six years later on streaming service Netflix.

The most heartening news is that the entire cast, many of whom have gone on to bigger things off the back of Arrested Development, will be back for this fifth series.

So whether your favourite is patriarch George Bluth, Sr (Jeffrey Tambor)…

...or his oldest son, Gob (Will Arnett)...

...or Gob’s little brother Buster (Tony Hale)...

...or any others from the show's brilliant comedy ensemble, who include Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, and Alia Shawkat, you won’t be disappointed.
