As well as being on directing duty, David Lynch is back in Twin Peaks as FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, and he really enjoys a donut in the latest teaser for the cult show

David Lynch continues to give absolutely nothing away about the new series of Twin Peaks but delights us anyway with a new teaser trailer for the cult television show. The video, which last just 32 seconds, shows Lynch in character as FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, who appeared in season two of the show and in prequel Fire Walk with Me. The boss of Kyle MacLachlan’s Agent Cooper, Cole is hard of hearing and is fondly remembered from the TV show for his comically inappropriate responses to misheard comments from colleagues.

What do we learn from the teaser? Well we know that Chief Cole appears to appreciate iced donuts just about as much as Agent Cooper digs filtered coffee and cherry pie. The trailer ends with that familiar Twin Peaks town limits sign and the words, “The Return.”

Lynch isn’t the only person to be back. The new series of the Showtime show will also include MacLachlan as Agent Cooper, Mädchen Amick as Shelly Johnson, Dana Ashbrook as Bobby Briggs, Harry Goaz as Deputy Andy Brennan, Michael Horse as Deputy Hawk, David Duchovny as Denise Bryson, James Marshall as James Hurley and Russ Tamblyn as Dr Jacoby. There are also reports that Ray Wise will be back as Leland Palmer, despite his character dying in the show.

Expect plenty of new characters too, played by the likes of Jennifer Jason Leigh, Trent Reznor, Tim Roth, Amanda Seyfried, Michael Cera, Laura Dern, Naomi Watts, Tom Sizemore and Sharon Van Etten.

No official date has be revealed, but Twin Peaks is expected to be back on Showtime in the Spring. Watch Chief Cole really enjoy that donut in the player above.
