Corey Feldman vows to 'expose Hollywood paedophile ring'

The star of Stand by Me and The Goonies vows to “name names” of the people in the film industry who prey on child actors

The last few weeks have seen Hollywood rocked by the multiple allegations that movie tycoon Harvey Weinstein had been using his power and influence to sexually harass and assault young women working in the film industry. Long before Hollywood woke up to Weinstein’s misdeeds, however, former child star Corey Feldman had been trying to open our eyes to another dark secret that runs through Hollywood: that men of power in the film industry have for decades been sexually assaulting child actors and been getting away with it.

In his 2013 autobiography Coreyography, the actor, who starred in films like The Goonies, Gremlins, Stand by Me and The Lost Boys, alleges that he and his Lost Boys co-star and namesake Corey Haim were sexually abused by powerful men in the film industry. He did not, however, mention the names of the perpetrators.

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Feldman has announced he plans to lead a “truth campaign” to expose the alleged network of paedophiles operating within Hollywood. "Right off the bat, I can name six names, one of them who is still very powerful today,” he said on a video he shared on Twitter. Feldman also says his story “connects pedophilia to one of the major studios.”

The truth campaign will take the form of a documentary, which the actor is raising funds for through Indiegogo. Already $132,501 has been donated, but Feldman hopes to raise a lot more – £10m is the target.

As well as donations, the video also sees the actor urge his fellow child stars to come forward and share their own stories of abuse. “I’ve lived in shame and fear my entire life, and so have millions of others,” he says, “and now we have the ability to let our voices be heard and break the dam of silence.”
