Thin Lizzy the Rocker - A Portrait of Philip Lynott

Phillip was a rockstar when he was cleaning his teeth

Film title: Thin Lizzy the Rocker - A Portrait of Philip Lynott
Ireland's greatest rocker never stopped rocking, even after his death. "Phillip was a rock star when he was cleaning his teeth", and he will be that rock star for years to come. He inspired some of the world's favourite rockers, and the tragedy of his Christmas Day passing saddened a generation and a nation. Interviews and his music tell of the man and the tragedy, all with love and respect. When Phil appears on-screen you understand why he left such a large group of devoted mourners. Lynott was likeable and talented, and more than a little dashing. Unlike Glaswegians and Donald Dewar's statue, people in Dublin don't steal from Phil's tribute; they add to it. The bass which his bronze holds like rock's very own Excalibur is permanently festooned with plectrums and flowers. After watching this, you might well understand why. Maybe you'll even grab a ferry and add a pick yourself. [James Blake]
