Having recently announced a tour to celebrate a decade since their third album Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever, The Cribs now join the bill for another tenth birthday: Liverpool's Sound City festival. These dates mark the Jarman brothers' return to action following the close of their For All My Sisters tour in September 2016.

Also joining them on the bill are hotly-tipped Reading band The Amazons, garage-honed indie rockers Vant and singer-songwriter Declan McKenna, winner of Glastonbury Festival's Emerging Talent competition in 2015, whose debut LP is scheduled for release just prior to Sound City.

This follows the recent announcement that The Velvet Underground's John Cale will headline Sound City, with the sole European performance of his former outfit's seminal ...& Nico album. Cale will additionally join the festival's guest speakers, as will The Charlatans' Tim Burgess, whose Tim Peaks Diner returns to Sound City at its new Clarence Dock site. An arts programme has also been announced, including controbutions from Brazilica Festival, Fiesta Bombarda, drumming ensemble Katumba and more.

The first wave of unsigned artists to play the festival has also been announced, with Glasgow's disco-powered party band Colonel Mustard and the Dijon Five and gender-disrupting DIY punks Queen Zee & The Sasstones scheduled to appear alongside a selection of acts from the Edge Hill label record label, including Shrinking Minds, Oranj Son and Ali Horn.

There Manchester's BIMM Institute also hosts a showcase, starring Fur, Tom Dunne, Ae Mak, Crimsons and Chay Snowden, and a quartet of up and coming acts from Korea: Ssing Ssing, Wasted Johnny’s, Diealright, and Swiimers. Meanwhile, the Modern Sky label gather UK acts Catholic Action, PIXEY, Violet Youth and FUSS along with some of their overseas roster, from New York's Cotillon and to Beijing's Re-TROS.

Sound City takes place between 25-28 May, Clarence Dock, Liverpool. Tickets are available from the Sound City website.
