Glasgow Music and Film Festival (GMFF) announced its programme today, with special events and screenings featuring artists including legendary synth pioneers Goblin, Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES, indie rockers Admiral Fallow and rapper Danny Brown.

Founded in 2009, and produced in association with The Arches, GMFF offers a series of one-off events combining audio and visuals. Co-curated by film buffs and music geeks from the Glasgow Film Festival and The Arches, last year's highlights have included the world premiere of Jeff Mills' soundtrack for Fritz Lang's The Woman In The Moon, and an appearance from legendary chanteuse Jane Birkin.

This year's programme offers a similarly diverse span of performers and events. In a specially commissioned performance, Admiral Fallow will create a new live score for their Ten Takes project and William S. Manson’s 1951 documentary Glasgow, No Mean City, at the Old Fruitmarket (1 March).

Over at The Glad Café, the Scottish premiere of Mistaken For Strangers, which follows US indie legends The National on tour. Rozi Plain, who supported the band on their most recent UK tour, will play live on the night (25 Feb, also 22 Feb at Paisley Arts Centre).

At other events, punk icon Bruno Wizard plays live at the Old Hairdressers ahead of the new film about his life (23 Feb, Glasgow Film Theatre / Old Hairdressers); synth and prog rock behemoths Goblin playing live selections from their soundtracks to cult horror films Profondo Rosso, Suspiria and Dawn Of The Dead at Òran Mór (27 Feb); and and Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES introducing The Punk Singer, Sini Anderson’s astounding profile of riot grrrl icon, Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna (28 Feb, GFT).

In what is sure to be one of the biggest events at the festival, Julien Temple’s highly acclaimed documentary Requiem for Detroit will be complimented by the triumphant return of Motor City rapper Danny Brown (26 Feb, The Arches) and a DJ set from Detroit techno royalty Carl Craig at The Arches (26 Feb) .

Other screenings include new 'rockumentaries' and music-themed feature films, including 20 Feet From Stardom, a hugely-acclaimed documentary about the backing singers who worked with the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Dionne Warwick (25 Feb, GFT).
