Lost Map announce new festival for 2014

With his new imprint Lost Map firing on all cylinders, it seems life post-Fence Collective is going swimmingly for Johnny Lynch, aka The Pictish Trail. The musician and label boss has secured support from the massive Homecoming Scotland 2014 organisation to put on a music festival next year on the isle of Eigg, in the Hebrides, in the spirit of former Fence shindigs Home Game and Away Game.

Lost Map's Howlin' Fling! will take place from 18 to 20 July next year, with the lineup currently a closely-guarded secret. Lynch issued a statement via the label's site this week, giving some idea about what the festival might have to offer fans.

"Howlin’ Fling! is a showcase for all the incredible bands on the Lost Map roster, as well as a get-together for our favourite fellow musicians, and special guest pals whose work we love. We host live music and DJs across two stages, whilst also encouraging visitors to discover the island; with treks up Eigg's glass mountain, the Sgurr, and trips to the beautiful white sand beaches.

We’ll be chartering ferries to take people over to the island from the Thursday onwards, and there’ll be boats heading back on the Sunday and Monday. To give you a flavour of what to expect, past invitees have included Django Django, Jon Hopkins, Nathan Fake, Gruff Rhys, British Sea Power, Human Don’t Be Angry, Cate Le Bon, Kan, François & The Atlas Mountains, Johnny Flynn, Sparrow & The Workshop, Euros Childs, Diamh, Silver Columns, Slow Club, Twilight Sad, Sweet Baboo, and tons of others."

We'll keep you posted as details of the lineup are announced in the months to come.Tickets for the even will be very limited, and will be on sale in a variety of locations and at Lost Map-affiliated events – the first place to snap one up is at Kid Canaveral's annual Christmas Baubles show. A second batch will be made available via the Lost Map website on 15 December. Below are some videos from previous Fence Records' Away Game events on Eigg.
