Loop, Songhoy Blues play Liverpool Psych Fest 2017

Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia has unveiled the first batch of artists for the 2017 event, with Croydon space rock veterans Loop and Austin, Texas' neo-psych favourites The Black Angels (whose fifth album Death Song is scheduled for release later this year) positioned at the top of the bill.

Songhoy Blues – a group of Malian musicians who fled the north of their country when it came under the control of armed jihadists, and later went on to record their debut album with the help of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner – and former Stereolab singer Laetitia Sadier have also been announced, alongside Californian drone rockers White Manna, genre-defying sonic adventurers The Comet is Coming and the woozey sounds of Wolf People.

Dub producer and On-U Sound founder Adrian Sherwood is also present on the line-up, alongside an impressive array of local artists, up-and-coming talents and Psych Fest favourites, with Ex-Easter Island Head, Novella and Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs all set to appear at the festival. Liverpool Psych Fest takes place between 22-23 September 2017, with more acts and a full programme of DJs, films, installations and more yet to be announced. Tickets are available from 10am on Friday 3 March at liverpoolpsychfest.com.
