Electric Fields is back for their fifth birthday, and it's bigger than ever. The 2018 edition of the festival at Drumlanrig Castle will take place on Thu 30 Aug, Fri 31 Aug and Sat 1 Sep, and the first wave of acts for this year's festival have just been revealed.

Among the highlights from this year's line-up are appearances from Edinburgh trio Young Fathers, whose new album Cocoa Sugar drops next month, as well as Ghostpoet, Nightwave, Ezra Furman, and Out Lines – the new project from Kathryn Joseph, Marcus Mackay and James Graham. Also catching our eye are hip-hop MC Lady Leshurr, Brooklyn dream-pop trio Sunflower Bean and afro-funk explosion Ibibio Sound Machine. Check out the full line-up so far at the foot of the page.

A Neu! Reekie!-programmed spoken word line-up will return for 2018, and the festival also promise an expanded cabaret and comedy programme, details of which will be revealed at a later date. The Sneaky Pete's dance tent will return, with the DJ line-up including Moxie, Charlie Bones and Athens of the North as well as a host of the club's resident DJs. This year's festival is headlined by 90s indie survivors James, dance pioneers Leftfield, and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
