The two-day Gold Sounds festival returns to Leeds between 20-21 May for another weekender of shoegaze, punk, psych, noise and grunge. This year's Saturday line-up gives top billing to Cabbage – Manchester's hotly-tipped and politically-minded purveyors of snark – joined by the equally ferocious Shame and LA art-pop outfit Gothic Tropic.

Liverpool's rising dreampop duo Her's also feature on the initial line-up, with their debut mini-LP Songs of Her's due for release in May, alongside the darkly ambient pop of Bristol's Swimming Girls, Brisbane garage rockers Dune Rats, Nottingham grunge trio Kagoule, indie rockers Goat Girl and Atlanta post-punk trio The Coathangers.

Leeds acts are also well-represented, including alt-rockers Narcs, intricate popsters Caro and psych three-piece The Boxing. Bradford's thoroughly idiosyncratic FLING and Doncaster-hailing, Manchester-based noisemakers The Blinders complete the Saturday bill, while Montreal melodicists Homeshake and New York's acclaimed Vagabon are set to perform on Sunday 21 May (further acts tbc).

Gold Sounds 2017 takes place at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, 20-21 May. Tickets are available now for both the Saturday and Sunday events.
