Bludot returns for its second year this weekend (7-9 Jul), offering up an eclectic blend of music, science, arts and culture. Set in the cosmic grounds of Cheshire's Jodrell Bank observatory, the three-dayer welcomes the likes of Alt-J, The Pixies, Goldfrapp, Flamingods, Dream Wife and Gallops, plus a projection-mapped artwork by Daito Manabe and a Not Quite Light photography workshop.

Another highlight are veteran ravers Phil and Paul Hartnoll aka Orbital, who headline the festival on Saturday night, playing the Lovell Stage beneath the iconic radio telescope. Delightfully, to celebrate the space and science themes explored at the festival, the organisers have created bespoke Star Wars style figures of the dance music duo, and with the help of a modified weather balloon, they sent the Orbital action figures into the outer reaches of the atmosphere!

“It’s always been a dream of ours to float in space – I guess this is the next best thing!” said the brothers. “We’re glad little Phil and Paul made it back to Earth in one piece; maybe they can join us on stage at bluedot!”
