Blanck Mass, Butthole Surfers join Safe As Milk
Demdike Stare and Forest Swords also added to the bill for the festival's debut weekender
The full line-up for the inaugural Safe As Milk festival has been announced, with Benjamin John Power's experimental electronic project Blanck Mass and reformed Texan psych lunatics Butthole Surfers among the latest additions.
Tony Allen, legendary Nigerian drummer and pioneer of Afrobeat, will also appear at the Prestatyn weekender in collaboration with Detroit techno veteran Jeff Mills, while Martin Rev of minimalist electro-punk duo Suicide, performs with the band's producer Craig Leon.
Forward-thinking music from the North of England is also well-represented, as the dub-centric soundscapes of the Wirral's Forest Swords and Manchester's dark ambient duo Demdike Stare have also been added to the line-up.
Created by the team behind TUSK festival and named after the debut album by Captain Beefheart, Safe as Milk takes place between 21-23 April 2017 in Prestatyn, North Wales. The festival also promises a sprawling market place, with record shops and labels (from Extreme Ultimate Records to Ninja Tune) manning their own stalls, a screen-printed poster exhibition from UK Poster Art, an appearance from Newcastle's Lathe Revival, plus a variety of independent food kitchens, coffee stalls and beer bars.
