BBC 6 Music Festival coming to Glasgow in 2017

The multi-venue music festival hits Glasgow this March, following previous editions in Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol

The festival's Friday night line-up features a headline set from Goldfrapp along with Warpaint, Sparks, Ride, Sleaford Mods, Future Islands, Cate Le Bon and Dutch Uncles, as well as the returning Jesus and Mary Chain. Saturday night's line-up features Bonobo, Hayley Bonar, The Lemon Twigs, Loyle Carner, Car Seat Headrest and Thundercat.

The Shins are also on the Saturday bill along with Grandaddy, Sacred Paws, Songhoy Blues and Honeyblood. Sunday night's bill features Depeche Mode, Belle and Sebastian, Julia Jacklin, Whitney, Forest Swords, Gaika and Anna Meredith, as well as DJ sets from UNKLE and Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite.

The daytime line-up features comedy from Scott Gibson, Fern Brady and Limmy, plus music from Father John Misty, Emma Pollock and an acoustic set from Edwyn Collins. There's also a range of spoken word performances, talks and events lined up for Tramway on Saturday and Sunday (25-26 Mar).

Tickets go on sale this Friday, 24 Feb; the Barrowland and Academy shows are £30 each, Saint Luke's shows are £20, and tickets for the daytime events at Tramway are £10.  

This year's festival takes place at a host of venues across the city from 24-26 March. The news was announced this morning by Scots Makar Jackie Kay at the Art School, on Lauren Laverne's BBC 6 Music show.
