Sarah Cassidy 'Culloden: Funny in Retrospect'

A tiny American woman and a large Cumbrian man tell jokes

Most important question first: Tell us about your show.

It's called 'Culloden: Funny in Retrospect', which is a combined effort between myself and Martin Croser, a Cumbrian comic who is based in London and also has a beard.

What's going to be unique about this performance of your show?

I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I am the best nearsighted female Jewish American comedian based on the Scottish comedy circuit. Plus, Martin's writing is absolutely stellar. We thought we'd name the show after Culloden because neither of us are Scottish, so if it incites violence then we've done our job.

Due to a lawsuit, you're forced to rename your show. What do you call it?

Celtic Football Club Hearts Margaret Thatcher and Other Facts

What inspires you, other than comedy itself?

The internet, sometimes. Recently there was a lot of hub-bub about Glasgow City Council trying to pass a law that would tax free events, which is how at least 50% of comedy gigs operate in this town. The word was spread incredibly fast, a petition went out that gathered several thousand votes in a few short days, and the legislation was changed. So, go activism. Other times, the internet makes me sad, like when I read absolutely any comments on youtube.

Is there anything in particular that you're looking forward to about playing in Glasgow?

Forcing my friends to come and see me, where they will have to endure a short play about sperm.

Or anything you're dreading?

Forcing my friends to come and see me, where they will have to endure a short play about sperm.

If you were organising a fantasy comedy night, who would you have as MC, support and main act?

Josie Long support, Lewis CK as the main, and Jerry Seinfeld as the MC. Just so when Josie comes off, Seinfeld could say, 'What's the deal with British Feminists?'

Who else are you going to see during the Glasgow Festival?

From the comedians based in Glasgow, I'll be going to see Will Setchell, Pearse James, Andrew Learmonth, Dogshit Johnson, Being John Malkyvich, Julia Sutherland's gig, and The Unemployables. From out of town: Dana Alexander, Josie Long, Robin Ince and Michael Legge, Doug Stanhope, Zoe Lyons... there's so many. That kind of covers them.

Would you like to make a disparaging comment about the Edinburgh Fringe in order to appeal to the Glasgow public? (Don't worry, nobody will remember this by August)

Not really. Good grace to the citizens of both cities for putting up with us hounding them to come enjoy themselves.

Sarah Cassidy and Martin Croser 'Culloden - Funny in Retrospect' is at Roxy171 on Thursday 29 March at 8.30pm. Tickets £5 http://www.glasgowcomedyfestival.com/shows/#!/shows/362
