Pussy Riot to play Edinburgh Fringe 2018

The Russian music and art collective are set for a ten-night run at Summerhall during this year's Edinburgh Fringe

The Edinburgh Fringe has always been a hotbed of political protest and outspoken comment, and there aren't many groups who bring those two qualities together with the commitment and ferocity of the Russian feminist performance art collective Pussy Riot. The group – who've been a thorn in the side of Vladimir Putin's government for much of the last decade thanks to their campaigning for LGBT rights and against the Putin government's human rights abuses – have lined up a ten-night residency at Summerhall for this year's Fringe, playing a series of shows from 10-19 August.

The Riot Days show, which toured the UK late last year, combines elements of theatre and documentary with the band's acerbic electronica and punk – it's the companion piece to the memoir of the same name by Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina. The Fringe shows are part of a short UK tour for the group; full details of that tour can be found below.

Pussy Riot play Summerhall, 10-19 Aug, as part of the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe; tickets are on sale now.
