The Death Hilarious @ Pleasance Courtyard

Revelling in scum and fun, meet The Death Hilarious.

Review by James McColl | 14 Aug 2017

The Death Hilarious present a collection of weird and wonderful sketches in The Scum Always Rises. A duo not afraid to revel in their own comic filth and debauchery, the show's rude and crude humour will be its talking point for audiences – love it or hate it. The Welsh duo and odd couple have no problem grabbing the crowd by the metaphorical sides and shaking them until laughter falls out. It's not the most relaxed of atmospheres. Yet, their style of performance does produce results more often than not, with most happy to go along for the ride.

With few exceptions, sketches don’t tend to outstay their welcome. The pair are also convincing character actors, though occasionally veer into stereotypes. The late night slot is perfect for the show, designed for audiences wanting something loud, stupid and filthy.

The Death Hilarious: The Scum Always Rises, Pleasance Courtyard (The Attic), until 27 Aug (not 16), 10.45pm, £5-11
