So then, tell us about your show?
That would be telling. The one thing I enjoy doing with my audiences is surprising them. But my aim is to give my recession audience top value for their comedy drachma.

How have your previews been going?
In the medieval bearpit, that is the comedy circuit, THEbullshitARTIST has blossomed like the toughest of flowers, ready to be transplanted into the magic of the theatre.

How are you going to keep it fresh for the full three weeks?
Easy. The aim is to make each show better than the last. That keeps me on my toes.

Is it ultimately worth coming to the Fringe?
This is a spiritual question that is way beyond my remit. @dalailama

Do you have a guaranteed, surefire flyering technique?
I hope so. It's a big part of the budget. We shall see.

What's your health regime for the Fringe?
Staying alive, staying alive!

What's the worst mistake people make at the Fringe?
Pitch up in Aberdeen! Remember, it's in Edinburgh.

Last year's Fringe was all about the London riots. What major news event will force you to hurriedly rewrite this year's show?
Luckily my mind can cope with a hurried rewrite, no matter what happens. Bring it on!

Do you pay your taxes?
Fuck off and mind your own business. Of course I do. You've mistaken me for someone who earns a fortune. I pay my taxes like every other hard working bugger in this land.

What was your favourite joke when you were a kid?
My fascist policeman father told the same million jokes over and over again. I grew to hate the joke. You have opened a terrible wound. Death to the joke.

Who else are you hoping to see while you're in Edinburgh?
I've been head down, bum up working on my own show, making sure that it's totally ready. Only when I get there will I be searching for that little leftfield gem that transports our art to a higher place. I hear there's a show based on Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells. That might be it. It might not.

Do you think Twitter has changed the world?
Apart from knowing when people are being funny when they're not. LOL! The #twitteruprising also turned the phone into an instrument of revolution.

Your last Fringe appearance was in 2005. What have you missed about it?
Through the noughties, I embarked on the million-mile tour with the Laurence Olivier Award winning Defending the Caveman. A tightly scripted 90 minute crowd pleaser on the politics of gender. All the while, longing to change the subject, jump out of the script and take an audience on an exciting free for all.
