Jonny Pelham @ Gilded Balloon

A characteristically thoughtful show from Jonny Pelham

Review by Sophia Shluger | 21 Aug 2017

Personal limitations and hardships are typical stand-up material but Jonny Pelham is more open in the way he shares than most in his third full Fringe hour. The set takes us on a lively journey through his last year; specifically, how he has managed to get out of his head and into the world.

It is an original and unfeigned show with poignant issues meeting punchlines; a show in which Pelham seamlessly spans politics, his recent experience falling in love, bodily issues and even a fear of becoming a paedophile. Talented and introspective, sensitive and stoic, in Just Shout Louder, Pelham shows us that he doesn't need to raise his voice to demonstrate just what an interesting one he has.

Jonny Pelham: Just Shout Louder, Gilded Balloon Teviot (Balcony), until 27 Aug, 7.45pm, £8-11
