45 Years and Ainslie Henderson win Edinburgh Film Festival awards

Andrew Haigh’s 45 Years has won the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Michael Powell Award for Best British Film, with the 2015 Festival awards handed out today at Filmhouse.

Charlotte Rampling was also awarded for her role in Haigh’s relationship drama, sharing the Festival’s award for Best Performance in a British Feature with James Cosmo, for his role in The Pyramid Texts. The Diary of a Teenage Girl, directed by Marielle Heller, won the Award for Best International Feature, while Scrapbook and The Wolfpack won awards for Award for Best Short Film and Best Documentary Feature respectively.

Edinburgh-based animator Ainslie Henderson was awarded the McLaren Award for Best New British Animation for his film STEMS, while Black Mountain Poets – the third film in director Jamie Adams' 'Modern Romance Trilogy' – was given the Student Critics Jury Award.

The 2015 Edinburgh Film Festival concludes this weekend with a series of 'Best of the Fest' screenings on Sunday, as well as the closing gala screening of Scott Graham's new film Iona.
