GLAM in the city

With Gok Wan as the top billing attraction at Scotland's answer to The Clothes Show Live, this drew a bevy of housewives in groups of four, keen for a day of fun and fashion. From cupcakes to cocktails, concealer to conditioner, every taste was catered for, and sales from the exhibitor stands
seemed steady.

Benefit, the cosmetics brand from San Francisco, was one of the show's main sponsors, and had a popular stand offering makeovers and merchandise with a gift promotion, as well as a Burlesque catwalk show. Other hits included the Sun Manhattan Lounge which had a bar service including a stall from the Merchant City based shop of the same name, selling the ubiquitous cupcake.

Other popular stallholders ranged from spas, nailbars, hairdressers including Glasgow-based Rainbow Rooms and Rebel Rouge, cosmetic counters and ice-cream stalls. Fashion stalls included Doll Boutique, formerly of the West End and now an online trader, Vivienne Westwood, Blush boutique, Hobbs, Buchanan Galleries, and Australian Boots selling Ugg-type sample sizes from
£25 alongside silversmiths and jewellers.

There was a series of live events on the mainstage and catwalk throughout the day and a light up dancefloor set up for the evening parties. VIPs were treated to a goody bag filled with make-up and magazines, available for a £5 supplement.

All in all, probably a relaxing day out for mum and her gang of four in need of some light relief from all that Desperate Housekeeping, but not so
glamorous for the more urbane among us.
