Nightwalk 2012

Close your eyes and imagine an innovative, eclectic array of designers, photographers and models joining together to celebrate the gloriously eccentric Scottish creative industry: the wacky and wonderful vision that comes into your head could be Nightwalk. Following two previous successful events since its beginning in 2010, this platform for creative talent in Scotland is now coming into full bloom.

The approaching 1 May event is causing a stir in the Scottish fashion industry and Nightwalk director Angie Koorbanally is clear about her intentions: “I would like Nightwalk to become a regular feature in Scotland's event calendar. I want Nightwalk to be the leading independent fashion event in Scotland which is open to the public without invitation. I also want Nightwalk to continue launching new names into the industry marketplace."

If the bursting-at-the-seems line-up is anything to go by, Nightwalk is pulling out all the stops for its third incarnation. Names such as Obscure Couture, Isolated Heroes, Bonnie Bling and Jennie Lööf will contribute to what is set to be a notable night for home-grown talent. Koorbanally adds that she remains committed to using fresh faces at each Nightwalk : “I'm most excited about Isolated Heroes, Bonnie Bling, Dawntroversial Shoes and Rene Walrus who will be showcasing collections with us for the first time."

Nightwalk was created when Koorbanally saw a gap in the market for a large scale fashion show, she  knew up-and-coming designers that were looking for a place to showcase their work. She reflects: “Studying events management in 2006 and working in the Arches for six years, I had developed a network of creatives in the fashion, media, PR and music industries. So it was always a personal goal to bring something new to the events market in Glasgow.”

And with the third event just about under its belt, it seems Koorbanally's goal will become a reality.
