Nick Mohammed: Mr Swallow

For any silly people unfamiliar with your comedy, tell us a little about you.

I'm a character comedian. Most of the characters are either camp men or women (limited range!) My Mum honestly thinks that this means I'm a 'comedienne' – I once heard her telling some relatives this on the phone! I've done a few telly and radio bits and bobs too and I'm exactly 164 cm tall (short).

What’s your show, Mr Swallow, all about?

It's sort of a lecture about numeracy I suppose, though that arguably makes it sound extremely boring! It's hosted by an absolute lunatic, plus there are quite a few surprises along the way. There's one bit in the show that I started rehearsing for last August... If I mess it up (and it's happened before!) I will honestly go NUTS!

It’s in conjunction with Invisible Dot, what are they like to work with?

Honestly? DREADFUL. Single-handedly the worst company I've ever worked with... (Ha ha!! The opposite of that obviously! They are quite literally outstanding and without doubt the very best at what they do. I couldn't have asked for more).

You also do a bit of radio and TV, what keeps you coming back to live performances?

I suppose there's nothing else quite like it, even more so when you're taking a new show to the Fringe. It's an odd beast, it can certainly be a bit of an emotional roller-coaster and takes the best part of a year to have a final product, but I find the immediacy of the response in the live environment infinitely more rewarding than telly or radio. It's almost definitely an attention-seeking thing!

Who are you looking forward to seeing at The Fringe this year?

So many people... But if I had to name three: Sheeps, Holly Burn and Peacock & Gamble.
