The Canterville Ghost @ Greenside

Machinist Theatre bring to life this popular short story by Oscar Wilde in which a malevolent ghost living at an English country-house is outfoxed by its new residents, a family of obnoxious Americans, to a colourful soundtrack from the classical repertoire from Boccerini to Debussy.

This 5-person cast show off their diversity, not only by assuming a variety of roles, but also by integrating a wide variety of lovely physical devices into this creative rendering. Physical theatre turns some ribbons and a few bodies into a horse drawn cart, turns balloons on strings into ball and chain, the imagination goes Wilde. Machinist Theatre formed in September of last year and packed 100 white balloons to bring this, their debut production to life, here at the Fringe 2012. Pop! Their edition of The Canterville Ghost was devised around a collaborative effort between script writers Dettie and Nick.
