Watchmaker - Co-Axial Escapement

Album Review by Gemma Couper | 15 Jul 2006
Album title: Co_axial Escapement
Artist: Watchmaker
Label: Incorporeal Recordings
Co-Axial Escapement' is comprised of solid beats, building synths and great big dirty bass lines. The LP shifts fluidly from edgy to uplifting, and although comparisons have been made with Massive Attack and The Prodigy, Watchmaker gives us a skilled and detailed style of his own. He is in fact one third of talented Edinburgh-based outfit Eaters, and this marks his first solo project. Watchmaker's production expertise can be heard on part of the 'Digest' LP and on all of 'Optimum'. He is set to establish himself as an innovative and influential force within the UK music scene and with a debut LP like 'Co-Axial Escapement', Watchmaker is certain to add a certain 'Je ne sais quoi' to the genre. Out in July.
