The Part-Time Heroes - 'Realise E.P'

Four tracks of groove-touched elegance

It's hard to put your finger on exactly the genre The Part-Time Heroes fall into. At the same time it would be easy to draw half hearted comparisons to other outfits. Lets instead say The Part-Time Heroes 'Realise E.P' gives you four tracks of groove-touched elegance which, at worst, would draw a thoughtful smile to any listener's face. The duo hailing from Southampton create an effortless, organic feel through flutes, horns, strings and keys which are arranged beautifully around intricate jazz funk beats. All of this in itself a whirlwind of charm but when vocal talents including the BBC Jazz artist of the year Liane Carroll are brought into the equation, The Part-Time Heroes cannot fail to entertain. A distinctly crisp autumnal feel with highly polished production throughout. It's an E.P you just need to play over and over - luckily stereos nowadays have repeat buttons. [Jonny Ogg]
