Solescience @Cabaret Voltaire, August 11

More substance than your average Edinburgh club

Article by Keira Sinclair | 14 Aug 2006
Solescience have worked hard over the last two years to build up a strong reputation and loyal following thanks to the talent of residents Nick Yuill and Rob Mathie, so it's not too much of a disappointment that their guest DJ Heather is trapped in Chicago due to flight difficulties. Why let international terrorism stop you when you can look closer to home and rustle up Harri and Dominic from Subculture, Glasgow's weekly house extravaganza and Scotland's best known house aficionados? The heat of Cabaret Voltaire meant that the night melted into a long hard boogie as people settled in for the extended festival licence. Harri and Dom played engaging and complementary sets from 2-4am, allowing Solescience to finish off the night, to a crowd that really didn't want to leave. Taking in all kinds of house; from deep and jackin' to acid and Latin, Solescience proved they've got more substance than your average Edinburgh club, international guests or not. [Keira Sinclair]
