JakN @ The Venue, Edinburgh, May 6

Techno, hard-tek, tik-tek, and I-can't-believe-it's-not-tek

As the Venue fades to black, a mass exodus of clubs spread through the month of May, including the last night of JakN at the venue. The set list stuck to the wall suggested that there were four DJs playing, and yet only two took the stage. Yes, Fuk-Nut and Sekonz became Milkovitch and Dirkatron for the evening in an alter-ego b2b face-off of breakbeat, techno, hard-tek, tik-tek, and I-can't-believe-it's-not-tek. It's the end of a two-and-a-bit years stint at the club, and to help them celebrate they even enlisted the help of the silver robot-man who can often be seen jiving away to electronica on Princes St for your pennies. The Mardi Gras atmosphere came to a thumping climax as punters burst the celebratory balloons in time to the music and screamed their farewells to the sweaty walls they have enjoyed so much. An appropriate sending-off. [Alex Burden]
