Jae P - Unsigned & Hungry Vol. 1

Might just be that landmark EP coming out from Glasgow

Label: Me & the Mac Go Brrap!
Just Another Emcee and Producer? Not at all. Glasgow-based emcee Jae P's debut EP (mostly produced by Perth-based producer Mac) is a stand out EP in an era dominated by US dirty south style of beats and rhymes. This EP will have the sample-based hip-hop heads thanking their lucky stars. Boasting a strong tracklist of eight songs, Unsigned & Hungry Vol. 1 is a breath of fresh air. Tracks like You Don't Even Know My Name (the first single released on iTunes on 3 Dec) and Wonderful Dream - on which Jae raps about everything from having dreams of superstardom to dreams of being with the nicest of girls - stand out with a clear ability for story-telling, the beats are banging too! More stand out tracks include the Sixpeopleaway collaboration Good Morning and the contagious I Call Her Music on which Jae raps about his love for music using the image of a girl – reminiscent of old school Common or The Roots. Unsigned & Hungry Vol. 1 might just be that landmark EP coming out from Glasgow. [Omar Jenning]
