Henrik Schwarz - Live

Twisting a broader-than-expected spectrum of sounds into something coherent for the dancefloor

Album Review by Colin Chapman | 07 Dec 2007
Album title: Live
Artist: Henrik Schwarz
Label: K7
Following last year's rather fine DJ Kicks mix, Henrik Schwarz re-enters the long-play arena with a live album. Perhaps a little surprising when he's yet to release a full-length solo effort, the bulk of Live is nonetheless made up of Schwarz's studio output and showcases an important side to the German artist. Aside from producing and remixing, he's become famed for club performances that blur the boundary between a live and DJ set, twisting a broader-than-expected spectrum of sounds into something coherent for the dancefloor. With highlights such as singles Leave My Head Alone Brain and Imagination Limitation, collaborations with Jesse Rose, Dixon and Âme, and remixes of Dark Globe, Mari Boine and his own nicely executed take on James Brown's It's A Man's World, it's an album worth checking.
