Album title: Greatest hits & From the Vaults 1997-2007
Artist: Groove Armada
Label: 14th Floor Records
In the last ten years one of the dance duos to have endured is Andy Kato and Tom Findlay of Groove Armada. Whilst never reaching the dizzying festival headline status of the Chemical Brothers, Underworld or Daft Punk, they have always produced quality tunes, as well as superb DJ sets. Their live shows also have an edge on their peers by being far more live; very little samples are used with vocals sung on the spot. Here we have a compilation bringing together all that has been good about GA with a celebration of a decade of quality output. The album is a long listen across three CDs, but all vary in content. The main CD is a collection of the best tracks unmixed with the likes of Chicago and At the River still sounding awesome as ever. The other two CDs highlight the separate talents of GA, with Tom Findlay playing an uptempo mix and Andy Cato opting for the laidback. [Sean McNamara]
