The Wee Chill @ The Glasshouse, Queen's Park, Glasgow, 29 May

Preview by Rachel Bowles | 12 May 2010

Forget numerous bank holidays, losing an hour of sleep and increasing amounts of sunshine. For clubbers, The Wee Chill festival is the true herald of the Scottish electronic summer, providing the perfect antidote for both Optimo mourners and those suffering from the post election blues (Tory pun intended). Returning once again to its spiritual home of The Glasshouse, Queens Park, on Sat 29 May, Wee Chill promises a formidable line up, with prolific Berlin duo Âme headlining alongisde label mate DJ/Producer Dixon. Âme will be bringing to the festival their trademark intense minimal, Detroit-influenced deephouse and a glittering sonic array of all their recent works- producing, rediting and reworking tracks for DFA Records amongst other prominent indie labels, as well as releasing a remix of Machines's The Fuse on their own label Innervisions.

Completing the electronic German exchange program, straight from Hamburg, house producer Tensnake will be performing his unique italo disco revival live, supported by British house/disco producer Mark E. For those of us who couldn't make it to the five or so Optimo farewells, didn't get into the fantastically oversubscribed final send off or just simply miss the infamous Glasweigan, Monday-wrecking club night, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes will be joining the special line up as Optimo, alongside fellow renowned Sub Club residents, Domenic (the 'electronic funk for freaks' Subculture regular), Sensu and Junior. Adding to this eclectic rosta so far are Numbers signing Jackmaster, disco DJ Billy Woods and our very own Pro Vinylist Karim, alongside Teamy, one half of the Nice n Sleazy's Wrong Island night; Dirty Larry, Ray Harris & The Fusion Experience and Thunder Disco Club, with more acts soon to be announced. Typically for Wee Chill, its an impressive mix of legendary local talent and the best of the rest. [Rachel Bowles]
