London's prestigious Red Bull Music Academy arrives in Glasgow this weekend for two days of free workshops, discussions and lectures at SWG3 and the Apple Store.

The Red Bull Music Academy has established itself as one of the most unique projects in music and over the last ten years it has taken place in Cape Town, New York, Berlin, Dublin, London, Sao Paulo, Rome, Seattle, Melbourne and Toronto. Each year the Academy takes over an inner city warehouse space and transforms it into a bespoke space for musical innovation where participants from all over the world are joined by music legends to learn about everything from music history to technology. Previous lecturers have included legends such as Gilberto Gil, Tony Allen, Derrick May, Bob Moog, Biz Markie, Mulatu Astatke and The Mizell Brothers as well as more recent successes such as MIA and Skream.

SWG3 will host a free lecture to inspire local budding DJs and future musical stars from 5pm to 9pm. Lecturers include Slam, Marco Bernardi, DJ Buckley, Basic Leeds, Caspa, Toddla T and Louis Den who will share their wealth of knowledge with the audience. Things will then move into the wee hours with a special aftershow party from 9pm till 1pm featuring a DJ set from Slam and DJ Buckley followed by a live set from Marco Bernardi.

On Saturday, the Apple Store will welcome a live demonstration masterclass from Tony Lionni who will explore different techniques and show how hardware and software work together for his music production. To end the Glasgow sessions Subculture will join forces with Red Bull as the night will be headlined by Kerri Chandler, Tony Lionni, Dominic and Esa.
