Thank God for Volume. The original springboard responsible for catapulting Edinburgh into the dubstep scene, they've had a host of residents and star-quality guests up their sleeve for a while now, and things are snowballing for them nicely. Following the mammoth success of Skream in October (whose definitive record Midnight Request Line made him last year's golden boy before Skreamism was even released), it is only natural that Benga should be next in Volume's pipeline: 2008 is set to be his year - Night feat Coki (DMZ) is the hottest piece of plastic in every self-respecting DJ's bag at the moment. This superbly intimate gig in Ego's cavernous basement - a far cry from Skream at the Bongo club - will only be available to a total of 175 very lucky punters. And it's resident MC Profisee's birthday, so buy him a drink. [Rosie McLean]
