After a successful run last year, Trocabrahma are back with a bumper line-up spread over three days and three venues. The event is designed to capture the spirit of Brasil and bring it to the stage for many fantastic collaborations.

There are several artists performing with each other on the nights, more than seems possible. Bonde Du Role - Franz Ferdinand's Domino label mates - will be on with Amanda Blank and Radioclit, and their set will be hosted by the world-famous producer, Diplo. Hip hop, electronica, reggae, psychedelia, grime, acid-pop, and even bhangra-techno will get a look-in for this full-on set. King Creosote, the Fife indie songwriter will collaborate with Romulo Froes, for a mix-up of guitar with latin elements. Also featured is Welsh rocker Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), blowing our minds with Estejo's Tony da Gatorra for some electronic rockery and synthesisers. Nick McCarthy and Paul Thomson (Franz Ferdinand) will be supporting with DJ sets.

Ben Westbeech will be meeting Tita Lima for an evening hosted by Gilles Peterson, and an explosion of global fusion. Westbeech is on Peterson's label Brownswood Recordings, exporting funk, jazz, hip-hop and soul on his debut album, Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life – his collaboration with similar artist Tita Lima will guarantee world music at its best. Os Mutantes, psychedelic acid-rock lords extraordinaires, are working with local Optimo talent JD Twitch, on a set that will no doubt be insane. Os Mutantes have been going since 1966, borne out of the Tropicalia movement in Brazil, while JD Twitch has absorbed music from every era, producing mind-blowing mixes and re-edits, and continually packing out his weekly club, Optimo, with fellow genre-bender JG Wilkes. Four Tet will be combining electronic bleepery with Open Field Church's (deliberately) badly sung acapella indie songs for what looks set to be a bizarre encounter for all involved! In the past, the colloboration has borne edits of LFO's Freak chopped into live vocals of the classic line 'This is going to make you freak', and Hebden's Everything Ecstatic mixed with Can's Mushroom Head. On the same night as Four Tet and Open Field Church are DJ sets from Aidan Moffat (Arab Strap) & Chris "Beans" Geddes (Belle and Sebastian).

The combination of electronica, guitars, beats and acapella on display promises to be a unique blend of Brazilian style with the rest of the popular music spectrum. It won't be what you're used to from the acts you know and love, but you'll enjoy it all the more for it! [Alex Burden and James Blake]
