Arguably the Radio 1 Essential Selection has defined a generation of dance music followers, not just in Britain, but on a global scale. Since 1991 listeners have been tuning in at 6pm every Friday to hear all the latest music and news in the world of dance from the legendary DJ Pete Tong. Pete has been DJing for decades, becoming a household name in the process, mainly through his involvement with Radio 1, Ffrr Records, various compilations and movie soundtracks, not forgetting countless club appearances. As part of the Essential Selection Tour 2006, Pete Tong has selected to broadcast live from the BBC studios in Edinburgh on Friday March 10. This show is followed by what promises to be an excellent after party, hosted by the Progression team, the only Scottish club involved in this spectacular tour. Joining Pete Tong at the Liquid Rooms in Room 1 will be Steve Angello (Ministry of Sound, Size Records), alongside Progression residents Alan Dobson and Derek Martin. Room 2 will be providing quality house tunes with Seamus Haji (Big Love, Pacha), Gareth Somerville (Ultragroove), Gav Grant and Stuart Johnston, with live percussion from Pepe Santa Maria. Grab your ticket while you still can for this unmissable, one-off performance from the masters.
Tickets £14.50 (plus booking fee), available from Ripping Records, Tickets Scotland, City Cafe.
