The Plump DJs - one of the fattest breakbeat acts this side of the North Pole

Smack in the middle of the Edinburgh festival comes a new club night, courtesy of the creators of the mighty Manga and Bio-Rhythm. Bass Syndicate rolls out on Saturday August 19 with a 5am licence and one of the fattest breakbeat acts this side of the North Pole. The Plump DJs gave the Breakbeat scene a clout in the chops back in 1999 with their first release, 'Electric Disco / Plumpy Chunks', and have since broken beats and bass lines on a worldwide scale, brandishing their amazing and award winning production skills throughout a plethora of seminal releases and highly regarded remixes - including their legendary I Feel Love bootleg, 'Donna Kebab'. The Plumps' 2003 'Eargasm' album set their Breakbeat footprints in stone, and recent collection 'Saturday Night Lotion' was an epic return to form, full of their trademark acid loops, gigantic swooping drums and ridiculous tweaked-out breakdowns. Within their genre, Andy Gardner and Lee Rous have created a path in which their piers can only follow. They are sure to fill what is to be a limited capacity Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh for one of the Festival's not-to-be-missed dance music events. Residents DJ Believe and Silver Storic will roll out their trademark mix of tough, euphoric, funky breaks, with back room drum and bass antics from Codenine. Dig out your roomiest jeans to allow maximum scope for liberal ass shaking and vigorous body jacking. [Jonny Ogg]
