Pins and Needles @ Red Vodka Club, August 18

Pins and Needles represent the new generation of promoters, trying out something different in smaller venues and with much success.

This Friday, Pins and Needles present a night entitled 'The Lost Edinburgh Sessions' meant as a homage to all that's missing from the festival due to the recent closure of The Venue. Although there's still plenty going on in the capital, clubbers are sorely missing what was the home to some of it's best clubs. Pins and Needles represent the new generation of promoters, trying out something different in smaller venues and with much success. They frequently invite guests through from Glasgow, and recently played their tech/house/electro blend at Alfresco, an outdoor gathering near Loch Lomond.

This month, they've secured one of Glasgow's best known names in the form of Twitch (Optimo, Pure). Depending on your age and musical taste, Twitch can mean very different things, from classic techno at Pure, recently closing the venue in style with guest Speedy J, to his 'anything goes' policy at Optimo, and it's minimal techno sister club The Black Rabbit Whorehouse. The fact it's a 5am licence means there'll probably be elements of all these clubs, or at least that's what we're hoping for - the elusive tingly feeling of a really braw night out. [Keira Sinclair]
