Peter Hook, The Messy Sessions, Guru, Glasgow, Oct 19

Some may recall his last appearance in 2004 at Tom Tom, where he tanned a bottle of Absolut, blagged cigarettes from the bar staff, blew five speakers and (metaphorically) tore the roof off the place!

Guru just opened its doors to the public last month, a four-roomed club at the Charing Cross end of Sauchiehall Street, and they are looking for punters to enjoy their "sanctuary for music lovers and dedicated party fiends alike." Guru's new regular monthly shindigs, The Messy Sessions, played host to the Trash Pussies last month, and are enthusiastically encouraging excess partying and celebrating rock n' roll debauchery. Their second session will be the New Order Afterparty, featuring guest DJ Peter Hook, bassist of the legendary New Order. Some may recall his last appearance in 2004 at Tom Tom, where he tanned a bottle of Absolut, blagged cigarettes from the bar staff, blew five speakers and (metaphorically) tore the roof off the place! This two hour performance is just as likely to be as completely mental and fun loving, with the entire evening encompassing a mixed bag of Alternative 80s tracks, floorshakin' soul, a bit of indie pop, some full on rock, classic disco and finally a light dusting of electronic boogie beats to keep the punters amused! Opening at 7pm till 3am every night Guru will offer a range of musical treats over the coming months, with most drinks priced around £1.50. The Messy Sessions are bound to be a great laugh and if you are lucky Mr. Hook may grace you with a funky re-mix of Blue Monday, the biggest selling vinyl of all time and a truly great tune!
