Mixed Bizness @ Sneaky Pete’s, 2 May

Article by Nicol J. Craig | 21 Apr 2009

Eclectic seems to be the new buzzword around DJ circles, so instead of listing all the genres that Boom Monk Ben might play, we’ll just say he likes to move about a bit. If a description is absolutely necessary: the Weegie DJ’s style comes from a hip-hop tinged background but never fails to infuse all manner of bouncing electronica into his sets. Ben’s been keeping the floor rumbling in Glasgow’s Art School for years, so it’s about darn time for his night Mixed Bizness to have its Edinburgh debut. A regular on Ninja Tune's ever-popular Solid Steel radio show, the launch night starts a summer schedule packed full of this year’s biggest electronic events. As a show of good intentions it’s free entry all night, and he’s taking up a four-hour slot. Can’t say fairer than that can you? Get yourself down to Sneaky Pete’s for a cosy, if not very messy, Edinburgh introduction.
